When I wrote this, I purposefully went over the top in the implications with the hope my “I have no morals, ethics, or empathy” example would be enough to show people how badly this real world scenario with unvetted data-focused actors could go if not given the attention it deserves.

Now, DOGE has been in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Commerce Department, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Education Department, Federal Aviation Administration, US Agency for International Development, Veterans Affairs, and the US Treasury Department.

The last dept resulted in a Judicial order kicking them out because they aren’t qualified or cleared for access to that data.

And that’s the bottom line. These people do not have the expertise, experience, clearance, oversight, or legal approval to do any of this. Democrats are indeed pushing back—they’re pushing and supporting lawsuits, doing in person filibusters on unqualified candidates, etc.

It’s not enough but they are pushing and responding to a massive influx of voter phone calls.

If “The Establishment” is just watching, that is almost entirely on the Republican side at the moment, which makes the MAGA takeover of the RNC even more terrifying.

So, while my post was a little over the top with the implications, the reality is actually much scarier.

I actually had a realization last night as I tried to fall asleep.

I think Musk is a True Believer. Capital ‘T’, capital ‘B’.

Not in a religion, in God/gods, or even in an ideology.

I *think*, after the actions of the past few weeks, Musk truly, intensely believes humanity will go extinct if we don’t go to Mars NOW.

If that’s true, then I fully expect his backend gameplay is to rework the entire federal government system to support interplanetary travel ASAP.

If that’s true sounds insane, go listen to interviews of him talking about our NEED to go to Mars.

Then look at all the departments he’s “cutting”—pretty much all had oversight over his businesses and/or were slowing SpaceX down with regulations.

I really hope I’m wrong on that and he’s just another greedy, vindictive billionaire, but the way he’s acting is making me think otherwise.

How’s that one for over-the-top? lol

But that (hopefully nonsense) aside: if this was about auditing and reducing costs, it would have accountants and auditors attached and reporting their data transparently and in real form; not an X feed embedded into the doge.gov website.

Yep. That’s true. Their “transparency” is sent in 280 characters or less and give no details, source data, or information.

It’s a propaganda feed at the moment.

Now, if you DO value government transparency, then you’ll be excited to know you could do this on your own, or with an accountant, at any time for years.

usaspending.gov is the “official open data source of federal spending information,
including information about federal awards such as contracts, grants, and loans.”

Anyone could’ve done an audit at any time.

That’s not what Musk, Trump, and DOGE are doing.

This is a coup.
