FYI: I don't get paid for this article on purpose. No paywall here.

Secondly, it's called a metaphor. In this case it's used to explain complex realities in simplistic form. I don't care about your emotions in this case--I am drawing a very real parallel between what this would look like if it was done to your personal home rather than the federal government.

If you are unable to follow a metaphor, I can just say it outright: Trump, DOGE, and Musk are currently in the middle of unilaterally destroying the federal government. They are violating federal law, state law, and even blatantly violating Constitutional law in the process.

When an administration fires the people in charge of nuclear security because they DID NOT KNOW that department was part of the Department of Energy, that's a big fucking problem.

When a department is created by Executive Order with no oversight and they end up posting classified data in clear text on their X feed, that is another BIG fucking problem.

When these tech kids leave their website unsecured so that anyone could access their site and make changes, but they still have access to our most sensitive data, that is a BIG FUCKING problem.

When they violate all data security practices in their rush to snag all data from the backend of the federal government, leaving unknown vulnerabilities in our nation's backend systems because there is no oversight and they aren't following federal law in the process, that IS A BIG FUCKING PROBLEM.

There is no "owning the libs" aspect to this that is worth weakening our national security like this. It's not only dumb, it is quite literally criminal.

I really hope you can take a step back and look at this objectively.

Because this the biggest national security breach in history, in my opinion, and somehow Musk, Trump, et al have managed to convince a bunch of y'all that an unqualified team filled with documented racist/eugenics-loving white boys are the right folks to unilaterally guy the entire federal government without experts involved.

I'll try one more metaphor, then I'm out:

This is the same as going in for open heart surgery, then you die on the table. Why? Because the surgeon is actually an intern at X and has no medical experience, but boy can he code. While your chest was opened, he thought it looked a little disorganized, so he just pulled out the heart, removed a lung since you only need the one to live, then tried to put the heart back in, but you were dead already.

And then he moves on to the next patient so he can "optimize resource allocation" in their chest cavity.

You're USAID in that example, by the way.

This is a horrible idea and the only reason they're getting away with it is because the Republicans in Congress and the Senate are terrified of their MAGA constituents, and because folks like yourself seem to think this is a "great idea."

Not only are people going to die--spoiler: they already are; we've already had more plane accidents and tragedies in the past month than the past 15 years combines--entire systems are going to collapse.

And they are going to affect you, your family, your friends, and your entire community, whether you believe in it or not.

You might as well look at it objectively and with a critical eye now while you still can.
