Raised fists for social justice in black and white.

If you’re just getting involved in the movement against Trump’s drastic push to the the far right and fascism: please be patient.

A lot of us have been screaming about this since 2015. It’s not an easy conversation to slip into, especially if you’re on the defensive right out the bat.

I’m a straight, white dude who rolls in of LGBTQ+ communities. I am asexual, so I have a place there, but my group is definitely the one where most other queer folks still poke us with sticks and ask “so how does it work?” lol

But I also look like I have a rack of red hats on my wall and a Trump flag out front when you meet me in person. That’s because I live in a rural area and burn wood for the winter, which means chopping and stacking wood.

It takes a bit of honest effort and clarifying, calm conversation to make people realize I’m not trying to sabotage, gaslight, or infiltrate their groups.

So please: be patient and keep trying. We all need to come together against the shit that is happening, but there is a lot of distrust at the moment. And, not for nothing, but that distrust has been fomented by the people trying to get us to a civil war.

Don’t let that happen.

We’re all Americans and we want what’s best for all of us and our fellow neighbors, cousins, and distant friends.

Take the time. Remember to breathe (my god remember to breathe; I have started too many fights on accident because I didn’t) and keep trying.

This is going to require us all working together.
